Text Box: Downtown Construction Ÿ Phase II

Phase II of Downtown Construction is scheduled to begin July 7, 2009, and expected to finish by October 2. Please see pages 12-13 for detailed drawings of the end result of these efforts. With no traffic allowed at some point along the hitching park segment of Brook Street and no access to the municipal parking lot, this new construction is expected to be somewhat inconvenient, although not nearly as disruptive to downtown business as Phase I was last summer.

In the meantime, here are some things you can do:

Communicate in advance with your customers and clients. Let your customers know when to expect the construction to commence and to finish. Send them emails or put the announcement on your billing statements. Communicate how to best navigate the downtown area. Be sure to let them know that they may have to park a little further away than normal.

Be patient. Encourage your customers to be patient, and exhibit patience yourself, as this is all part of the effort to make downtown Oregon a beautiful, inviting and welcoming place to visit, shop and dine.

Maintain a positive attitude. Keep the end in mind and share your enthusiasm with your customers. How they feel about the construction will come from what your take on the matter is. If you are excited about the new additional development in the downtown area, they’ll soon catch it from you. Before you know it, the construction will be over.
