The Memory Caf is open to\n\nanyone without a formal referral or assessment. Those with dementia or\n\nmemory issues may attend unaccompanied when appropriate\, or\n\nwith family\, friends or care partners. This group is not suitable for people with\n\ndementia to attend alone if they have specific care needs such as problems with\n\nincontinence\, mobility issues that require aid\, high levels of anxiety\, disorientation\n\nor history of wandering.\n\nWhat is a Memory Caf ?\n\nA Memory Caf is a place where individuals with memory loss\n\nand their care partners can get together in a safe\, supportive\n\nand engaging environment. It is a time and place where people can interact\, laugh\,\n\nfind support\, share concerns and celebrate without feeling embarrassed and misunderstood. The\n\nMemory Caf encourages friendship and acceptance. Participants share conversation in a\n\nrelaxed atmosphere that can include music\, art or other forms of activity.\n\nDo I need to pre-register?\n\nYou do not need to pre-register for the Memory Caf but it would be helpful for\n\nus to have a general idea of how many attendees to expect so we can plan\n\naccordingly for refreshments. If you want to give us a heads up that you're\n\ncoming\, please call the Stoughton Senior Center at 608-873-8585. But\, if you want\n\nto just drop in\, that's fine too.
